In many cases disease and deaths can be prevented by early detection and treatment, and in others screening tests may lead to treatment and a better quality of life. Depending on your health and personal risk factors, your screening schedule may differ from the standard recommendations. Please consult with your healthcare provider for individual screening requirements. For the recommended general screening for men and women:

Women’s Screening Schedule

  • Regular pap smears – 3 yearly from age 21 and above
  • Pelvic examination annually
  • Clinical Breast examination every three years
  • Mole screening annually from the age 30
  • Comprehensive Eye Examination (necessary at the age of 40)
  • Mammogram – annually from age 40 and above
  • Blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol check annually
  • Bone mineral density from age 50 (to be done every 15 years)

Men’s Screening Schedule

  • Colon cancer screening from age 50 (to be done every 5-10 years)
  • Testicular self-examination monthly
  • Mole screening annually from the age 30
  • Comprehensive Eye Examination (necessary at the age of 40)
  • Blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol check annually
  • Prostate (blood sample for PSA count and digital rectum examination) annually from the age of 50
